We’ve seen the Veneno. We’ve seen the Egoista. What we haven’t seen from Lamborghini is what they plan to do about replacing the Gallardo. Lambo’s v10 riot is their best selling sports car ever. It’s successor has a lot to live up to. According to MotorAuthority, we’ll be getting a sneak peak of the Gallardo replacement at the Frankfurt autoshow in September.

If their latest concepts are anything to go by, Lamborghini’s designs are just going to get increasingly edgy. In this case, I mean that both ways. The Veneno, the Sesto Elemento, and the Egoista are excellent at getting very strong reactions out of people. They are also, literally, quite pointy.

So far we know the car will share a base with the next-gen R8, similar to the way the Gallardo and the current R8 do. Fiberglass, carbon fiber, aluminum, will all go into the next chassis. It should weigh in at 3,300 lbs or so, while retaining it’s AWD and V10 engine. Surely it’ll be quick, but if you were hoping to swap gears yourself, you’re out of luck. Only the seven-speed dual-clutch tranny will be available. Damn.

The only question that remains then is what they’ll call it. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
