Hear Ferrari’s F14-T Formula 1 Car Scream Around Jerez
There’re a few sounds in life I’d describe as beautiful. The sound of soft raindrops falling on a roof is beautiful. Andrea Bocelli singing Con te Partiro is beautiful – as is any professional instance of Clair de Lune.
More pertinent to the subject matter at hand, I’d also consider the following sounds to be beautiful as fuck: An aggressively cammed LS V8, anĀ LFA screaming to its 9,000 RPM redline, and any instance of the Ferrari F430 Scuderia. Though my first might be debatable to some. The LS can be as beautiful as a troupe of axe murderers performing a figure skating routine.
In any case, here’s a video of the much talked about 2014 Ferrari F1 complete with its new twin-turbo V6 power plant. As Kimi Raikkonen zips enters a distant bend and zips by on the straight, the spooling of the Ferrari F14T engine remains clearly audible from beginning to end.
F1 fans lamented on the move from the maniacal V10 screamers to V8s, but I like the sound of the V6 TT. It’s a lower timbre than both predecessors with a more jagged quality. It’s a big departure from the classic F1 sound. If there’s one thing I do know, it’s that I really want to hear this in person. No ear plugs.
