The Glorious Noise of a Porsche 918
Out of the three new hybrid hypercars, my personal favorite is the McLaren P1. It’s lighter than the other two. It makes an obscene amount of power. And overall I just like the look of it more than the Porsche or the Ferrari.
However, where the P1 falls flat for me is the noise it produces. Sure it spits fire, and goes like stink, but noise is such an integral part of the supercar DNA that you need a great soundtrack to make the car.
In that category of glorious noise, the Porsche 918 definitely takes the cake. Just listen to this video and tell me otherwise.
How can you argue with a high-strung, naturally aspirated V8, with its exhausts just centimeters from your ears? Answer, you can’t.
