Koenigsegg Bringing Agera R to the US

Though we frequently complain about the cool cars we don’t get in the states, the truth of the matter is that we’re spoiled. Every super car, exotic, and sports car under the sun is available if you’ve got the cash… with one notable exception: Koenigsegg. Luckily, that hyper car-less period of our history is now over. The Agera R is coming to the states.

Koenigsegg builds some of the fastest cars in the world. In fact, besides Bugatti’s Veyron, it is the fastest car in the world. The Veyron SS Is the current king of the hill after being recorded going 268mph. The Agera R is, theoretically at least, capable of going faster. Koenigsegg says that with special tires, it’s capable sprinting all the way to 273mph. We haven’t seen it yet but there’s really no reason to believe that it won’t go that fast. So long as it’s running on biofuel and making 1140 hp and 885 lb ft of torque, we’d feel confident in saying the Agera R is the fastest production car there is.

Maybe that will justify the $1.5 million price tag. There are a number of cars that will out accelerate a Veyron, but the Agera R is the only one that will do that while coddling you in luxurious comfort and being able to corner. The US might miss out on some of the cool stuff coming out of Europe, but we definitely can’t complain.
