Koenigsegg Returning to the U.S.

2011-Koenigsegg-Agera-R-feature

Koenigsegg remains one of my all-time favorite supercar builders. The level of engineering detail added to the insanity of the engines just boggles my mind. You can never go wrong, or get bored talking about the little Swedish supercar company.

That being said, Koenigsegg hasn’t been able to sell in the United States for quite some time. That’s all about to change.

According to Christian von Koenigsegg, the company is investing big money to meet the U.S. homologation and safety standards so that the cars will be available for sale here.

According to the statement, the first new car in the country will be a One:1. However, that will likely be on a show and display title and will only be able to be brought out for track days, and smaller events. The next model will be a retrofitted Agera R, however the first fully built one, in terms of US safety standards, will be an upcoming entry level model that has yet to debut. And that’s a very relaxed interpretation of the phrase “entry level.”

I can’t wait till more are in the country, not because I could ever afford one, but because it just heightens my chances of seeing one in the flesh.
