Lamborghini Building One Last Special Edition Gallardo

Lamborghini’s best selling car ever, the Gallardo, is finally ending it’s production run. They’ve made well over 10,000, more than twice the number of their second most popular car ever, the Murcielago. Still, all good things must come to an end… But before Lamborghini finally closes the curtains on the Gallardo, they’re giving it one more special edition model.

Now, the Gallardo is no stranger to special editions. There’s the lightweight Superlegerra, the handling focused Valentino Balboni, the hardcore Super Trofeo Stradale… They’ve even released special editions to celebrate the unification of Italy (the Gallardo Tricolore, if you’re wondering.) So it’s fitting that they make one more to send it away.

Hopefully it’ll be more than just a fancy paint swap. As much as we love stylistic changes, a car like the Gallardo deserves a properly insane car to send off. My money is on a Super Veloce model to close out the this generation, similar to what they did with the Murcielago. There were rumors of Lamborghini producing this version of the Gallardo back in 2010, but the car never materialized.

With car show season upon us, we’ll be sure to learn more as the days go on. We’re sad to see the Gallardo go, but all that means is that there’s got to be another car in the works. They can’t just be planning to replace it with the Urus… Right?
