Lamborghini Countach is making a comeback, and here are some exciting details about the upcoming V12-hybrid supercar.

On Monday, Lamborghini announced that its iconic Countach model will be making an exciting comeback. The Italian automaker’s Countach nameplate turned 50 in 2021, and the original was responsible for influencing the design of many modern supercars that we love today. Just ahead of the car’s debut, images of the Countach reboot were leaked online, and true to Lamborghini’s word, the model’s styling was heavily inspired by the original supercar. The images were released by Instagram account @varryx_.

Lamborghini Countach’s successor gets the LPI designation and adopts the Countach LPI 800-4 moniker. The car is going to make its debut at Monterey Car Week, at Pebble Beach this month. Back in April, we reported that Lambo’s forthcoming Aventador replacement might be propelled by a V12 hybrid powertrain. The leaked images confirmed a gold-accented V12 motor, along with the car’s sleek grille, Countach badge, and a muscular front bumper with a wide air intake.

The Aventador-based Countach will get an all-wheel-drive setup, and it will be powered by a 6.5-liter V12 motor, which will come paired to a 48-volt mild-hybrid system. The car will produce 789 HP (800 PS) of maximum power. Lamborghini has confirmed that it will only produce 112 examples of the Countach LPI 800-4. The new Countach is rumored to cost around $3 million.

Unveiled in early March 1971, Countach was introduced as a successor to Lamborghini Miura. Lamborghini also introduced an Aventador-based Miura tribute car on the nameplate’s 50th anniversary. Unlike the Miura tribute model that premiered back in 2016, Countach LPI 800-4 not only sports a period-accurate paint job but also flaunts bodywork that embraces signature styling cues of the original Countach.

Countach LPI 800-4’s new rectangular headlight design, angular wheel arches, retro-style LED taillights, and the large blacked-out side air vents re-imagine the iconic design and wedge shape of the supercar that went on to set the tone for the styling and silhouettes of other exotic car designs for decades.

The Italian automaker has been teasing Countach for a while now. Only a few hours ago, more details were revealed via the brand’s social media handles. Lamborghini posted a carousel post with three images. On the other hand, the official website also teased the new Countach without revealing many details.
