Accompanied by the Lotus Evija and Radford Type 62-2, Lotus’s last gas-powered machine, the Emira, makes U.S. debut at The Quail.

Monterey Car Week is here! And with the big car shows changing up how they handle things (or cancelling entirely), more than a few manufacturers have made this special week the perfect backdrop for showing off their latest and greatest.

Among them is Lotus. The English manufacturer is landing in Monterey this week to show off not one, not two, but three of their machines for special events at Laguna Seca and The Quail. Among them, the very last gas-powered Lotus, the Emira.

Lotus Emira

“The Emira is a game-changer for Lotus,” said managing director Matt Windle back in July. “It stands as a beacon of everything we have achieved to date in the transformation of the business, the embodiment of our progress. It is a highly significant milestone on our path to becoming a truly global performance car brand.”

Before arriving with the rest of the Lotus crew at The Quail, though, the Emira will take part in a celebrity track day at Laguna Seca. We won’t know who’ll be the lucky driver of this last-of-its-kind machine until later this week, however.

Meanwhile, the Evija returns to Monterey with a new look for the occasion. Originally making the trek back in 2019, the EV hypercar now wears a coat of yellow with blue accents. Said look is a tribute to the Type 99T campaigned by the late Ayrton Senna in 1987, including a win in Detroit.

Radford 62-2

Finally, the Evija and Emira will be joined at The Quail by the Radford 62-2. Limited to 62 examples, the 62-2 is based upon the Lotus Type 62, which was Lotus’s last endurance racer, campaigned in the 1969 season. The coach-built tribute rides upon the bones of the Evora, and features a 3.5-liter supercharged V6 good for 430 to 500 horses.

All three cars will be on display at Lotus’s stand at The Quail for a press conference Friday, August 13. The conference is scheduled for 12:15 p.m. Eastern/9:15 a.m. Pacific. We certainly can’t wait to see these three out in the California sun at Monterey Car Week.
