Lamborghini Huracan Gets Friendlier for 2016 and a Little Meaner Too

Lamborghini is giving its Huracan a bit of surgery for 2016. The car has only been on sale for a couple of years, but that isn’t stopping the Italian company from making a few “quality of life” improvements. Before you go too excited, note that there are zero changes to power, performance and exterior visuals. Instead what we get are lots of new colors, new interior customization options, and few long awaited goodies like a new power plug in the interior, cruise control, an upgraded stereo option, and new cargo nets to keeping things from bouncing around your supercar when you get frisky.

Also new for 2016 is a set of cupholders, big news for many of you I am sure.

In the back of the Huracan, there has been a small change to the LED engine lighting system that now makes it visible under the glass rear hatch so that you can light up your engine and have it been seen when you are parked at night in Monte Carlo. Or something.

That engine also now has some technology inside of that makes the car much more eco-friendly. The V10 engine now has the power to shut off half of its cylinders to run in 5-cylinder mode to save fuel and reduce pollution. Along with the more earth-friendly engine, the AWD system has been tuned to be more friendly and comfortable when in street mode.

If you are reading this and you find yourself irrationally angry that the first update to the Huracan includes nothing but stuff that makes it less exciting for performance enthusiasts, and much more appealing to geriatrics, just hold your horses. Rumors have it that the L.A. Auto Show will be home to a surprised debut by Lamborghini of a RWD Huracan with less weight and a clutch pedal. Let them have their cupholders and cruise control if it means I get a gated shifter and just two driven wheels.
