Lamborghini Revuelto Makes a Surprisingly Excellent Weekend Getaway Car
The Lamborghini Revuelto may be an incredibly powerful and capable machine, but it also has some fine road manners, too.
The all-new Lamborghini Revuelto just made its debut not too terribly long ago, which is, as they say, a pretty big deal. After all, it isn’t every day a new Lambo emerges in the lineup, so that’s a special-enough occasion. However, aside from its handsome looks that are part Countach, part Diablo, and part Murcielago, the Lamborghini Revuelto is also a V12-powered, plug-in hybrid monster with three electric motors that churns out 1,001 horsepower and costs slightly over $600,000. Those things likely mean that most Revueltos will live a pampered life, never traveling too far, but as it turns out, this exotic piece of machinery is also suitable for longer trips.
We know this thanks to Throttle House, which recently took a Lamborghini Revuelto on a 500-mile road trip across a portion of Canada before driving it back the same exact way. The inspiration behind this trip was simple – the folks at TH live in Ontario, but don’t exactly have any pretty driving roads nearby. For that, they must head north, seeking some maple-tree lined roads devoid of traffic, trash, and endless stoplights and chain restaurants.
Of course, driving an exotic supercar longer distances these days isn’t quite the cramped, uncomfortable experience that it used to be, nor are mechanical issues quite as big a worry. Thanks to front axle lift and an adjustable suspension- coupled with many other creature comforts – modern days machines like the Revuelto are far more tolerable for that type of task than their predecessors. With comfort mode activated, the rough roads of Toronto reveal that it has a pretty soft, tolerable ride when needed, in fact. The worst part is having to listen to considerable drone in stop and go traffic, but then again, one can just switch on EV mode if that gets old.
The Lamborghini Revuelto is much more at home on the highway, of course, where it can stretch its legs and make all sorts of glorious V12 noises. Even in heavy rain, modern tech helps keep the car planted and pointed straight, and that magic carries over to the curvy hills. In fact, even though this is a big, heavy machine, it performs quite admirably on those tight pieces of tarmac, and feels much smaller and lighter than it actually is – a monumental achievement in the automotive realm and one that inspires plenty of confidence for those behind the wheel.
Ultimately, the refinement of the Lamborghini Revuelto is quite welcome in this case, even if it is a bit uncharacteristic of the traditional Lambo experience. However, that also makes it a suitable weekend getaway car, so long as you don’t worry about picking up a scratch or two here and there – in fact, on this journey, the car wound up with a small hole in the front fascia. Regardless, if things like that aren’t a concern, it’ pretty clear that Lamborghini has done a great job creating an incredibly capable machine that’s also capable of soaking up the miles in surprising comfort.
