Lotus Evora GT430 Aims to Punch Porsche’s GT3 Square in the Nose

By -

The Lotus Evora GT430 finally goes after Porsche with a track monster. It is lighter, faster, and more extreme, but can it best the Porsche GT3?

Lotus is tiny British manufacture with an amazing history. The brand is well known for their founder Colin Chapman’s philosophy of “simplify and add lightness.” However, sadly, their road cars in recent years have been all but absent from the US market, so simplified lightness for us. The current offerings from Lotus abroad are the Evora 400 and 410 Sport, but the engineers at Lotus never stop tinkering. They are always finding ways to extract more performance from their cars. Their latest creation is a study in lightness, it’s called the Evora GT430.

The Evora GT430 is based on the Evora GT4 racecar chassis. As a result the car is lighter and stiffer than the regular Evora, weighing in at justĀ 2774 pounds. In addition to being lighter weight, the 3.5-liter supercharged V6 now has 430 horsepower. The 0-60 time is down from 4.1 to 3.6 seconds over the standard Evora 400. The GT430 has also been given an aerodynamic makeover. The track aero setup provides serious downforce to keep the car cornering flat. All of the bodywork on the GT430 is made from carbon fiber and excess weight was removed everywhere possible.

In this video, Motor1 UK takes us for a drive in the latest and greatest from Lotus. Around the track the sharp looking GT430 looks amazing. The additional wing and front splitter scream GT race car. The Evora is a beautiful car, but it has had a hard time finding a place in the US market. We are glad to see that Lotus has continued to develop the Evora platform. We are not sure if the US market we be getting the GT430 in the future, but we sure hope we do. Let us know what you think of the Evora GT430 in the comments.
