Manhart TR 850 Extracts Major Power From Porsche's 991.2 Turbo S

New Manhart TR 850 makes the old 911 Turbo S even faster than the new one thanks to a host of extensive upgrades.

Traditionally speaking, German tuner Manhart Performance is known for their work with BMW models. But the tuner recently decided to tinker around with the Porsche 991.2 911 Turbo S, and the results are nothing less than impressive. This newly minted model is dubbed the Manhart TR 850, and it takes what is already a seriously quick machine and cranks it up to a whole new level.

In fact, the Manhart TR 850 produces a healthy 850 horsepower and 804 pound-feet of torque. That’s an incredible increase of 270 hp and 251 lb-ft, if you’re the type who enjoys math. And in this case, we’re pretty sure everyone does. Regardless, a series of modifications were performed to the 991.2 Turbo S to extract that extra performance.

First, Manhart works their magic on the twin VTG turbochargers to optimize them for greater efficiency. They then add a CSF intercooler to keep the temps down, as well as an IPD aluminum intake with a BMC air filter. A new exhaust system with Manhart down pipes allows the car’s flat-six to breath more easily. Finally, the Manhart TR 850 is treated to an ECU remap to capitalize on all these modifications.

With all that power flowing through an upgraded PDK transmission with stronger clutches and a software recalibration, performance is obviously impressive. Manhart says the TR 850 will do 0-62 miles-per-hour in just 2.4 seconds, hit 124 mph is 4.9 seconds, and max out at well over 200 mph. For comparison’s sake, a stock 991.2 Turbo S takes 2.9 seconds to reach 62 mph.

Of course, Manhart didn’t just throw a bunch of extra power at the last-gen Turbo S and call it a day. They’ve also fitted the car with H&R lowering springs that bring it down a full 30mm from stock. A set of 21-inch Levella LVL1.1 Monoblock forged wheels fill the wheel wells, and are wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires measuring 255/30 up front and  325/25 out back.

The exterior of the Manhart 991.2 Turbo S has also been treated to some matte black stripes with the company’s script for a distinctive look. For those that want more, the tuner is also offering optional brake and interior upgrades for a complete package.

Those feeling a little left behind by the new 992 Turbo S certainly don’t have to trade in their old car in for an upgrade. The Manhart TR 850 provides more than enough juice to outrun the latest and greatest 911, bar none.
