Nardo Grey GT2 RS Wears Controversial Custom Paint Color

Custom Nardo Grey GT2 RS may not suit everyone’s tastes, but it featured the Weissach package and netted nearly $400,000 on Bring A Trailer.
If you ask any car enthusiast about Nardo Grey, you’re likely going to get a pretty heartfelt answer. The answers seem to lean very heavily toward the ends of the spectrum. Some folks really love it, and some folks really hate it. We do need to make a bit of a correction, though. The name Nardo Grey has become a catch-all for any vehicle sporting a non-metallic gray color. However, the namesake actually belongs solely to Audi, as it’s an Audi paint color.
So, what we’re saying is that we can’t say for sure if this gorgeous Porsche 911 GT2 RS on Bring A Trailer is actually wearing Nardo Grey. However, given that Audi and Porsche share a parent company, there’s a decent chance that it actually is using the authentic Audi paint code. Semantics, we know. Sometimes, though, you’ve got to get these things straightened out! What we can tell you is that this beauty brought a final bid of $395,000. So, evidently, someone other than the seller liked the paint, too!

The Flatness of the Grey Really Highlights the Carbon
Nardo Grey’s appearance is effectively the result you’d get if you put a clear coat over standard grey primer. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. However, in the grand scheme of things, grey is not the first color most people will think to choose when it comes to buying a new Porsche. It is, indeed, a bit niche.
However, the Nardo Grey finish on the GT2 RS really accentuates the body lines. Looking at the pictures, the shadows and contrasts across the car are extremely apparent, thanks to the way the grey paint reacts with light. It really highlights things like the widened fenders that are exclusive to the GT2 RS and, of course, its iconic wing. Above all else, though, it really makes the carbon hood, vents, and other components really take center stage when presented atop the somber grey color.

Subtle Beauty to Win Them All Over
There’s beauty in simplicity. Even if you’re not a fan of Nardo Grey going into this, perhaps the paint on this particular car will win you over.
However, it could be the fact that it’s on an iconic 700-horsepower ultra-performance variant of the car we all know and love. Who knows?
All we can say is cheers to the original buyer of this car that ordered it in this color. If not for that $12,830 expense for a non-metallic custom color, we may not have ever known how cool a GT2 RS looks wearing Nardo Grey.
