Up in Smoke – NSX Prototype Turned to Ash at the ‘Ring
A few days ago I told you all that I didn’t believe there would ever be a new NSX. Well, it looks like the gods of the Nurburgring are in the same camp as it seems the prototype we saw testing the other day burned to the ground.
The upcoming sportscar has been at the ‘Ring for the last week undergoing testing of its drivetrain and suspension aspects.
This type of event is definitely not an uncommon site at the legendary and infamous racetrack. At the moment there is no word on what caused the car to set ablaze but it definitely won’t be going anywhere soon.
The new NSX’s powerplant has been rumored to be a hybrid twin turbo V6, and with that complicated of an engine, there are definitely countless ways a fire could start, especially on a pre-production car.
No one was injured with the driver and passenger both making it out unscathed, which is very good news since this track has a habit of taking the lives of drivers.
Hopefully Acura has another prototype handy, and it just confirms my theory that the NSX is doomed to stay a concept forever.
