What we present to you now is a Ferrari F40 LM Barchetta. Just sitting there in that photograph on your screen it looks breathtakingly gorgeous. It’s the kind of supercar that gives other supercars an inferiority complex.

This Ferrari is absolutely a one of a kind car, and that’s to be expected since this is the only Ferrari F40 LM Barchetta ever to be produced. However, it wasn’t built by Ferrari.

First off, it’s not a kit car. There’s no Pontiac Fiero underneath that stunning body work. No, this F40 actually started life as a F40 LM. One that was once raced at Laguna Seca by Formula 1 driver Jean Alesi. However, after its racing career, it found itself in the hands of a Belgian car collector where it was transformed to the car you see before you.

The collector decided that the “standard” F40 LM just wasn’t up to his impeccable standards and decided he’d modify the racecar thoroughly. As you can see, the roof has been chopped off to allow the driver a more raw experience in the car.

In addition to the freshly chopped roofline, the owner also tuned the engine to produce a ridiculous 940 horsepower, which is around 200 horsepower more than a current Formula 1 car.

Suffice it to say, the car can hustle a racetrack. But the sheer awesomeness that is this one-off Ferrari F40 LM Barchetta is primarily in how the driver is now exposed to the elements and the brute noise this car makes.

So what do you all think? Is this a travesty that the owner cut up a priceless piece of Ferrari racing history, or is this one of the coolest things you’ve ever seen.
