Racer Jack Pilgrim showcases the road and race-worthy versatility of the $190,700 Porsche 911 Turbo S.

With 580hp and 533lb ft of torque, there is no denying the 2018 Porsche 911 Turbo S can haul. The machine designed for speed and driver comfort can reach 205mph. A speed most suitable to be tested at a racing facility. With that kind of speed combined with plush interior luxury options, it is no surprise pro-racer, Andy Pilgrim, reporting for Automobile Magazine, calls the 911 Turbo S the “executive’s rocket ship.”

The 911 Turbo S is powered by a twin-turbo flat-six engine. With that kind of power, the 991 Turbo S has an impressive take off that can reach 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. Pilgrim describes the acceleration experience as “0-60 is basically shoving your fillings down your throat.” A description that definitely imparts the kind of momentum you’d feel when putting the pedal to the metal.

Don’t expect any braking issues whatsoever as all 911 Turbo S are equipped standard with massive carbon-ceramic brakes. With front rotors at a whopping 16 inches and the back with 15.5 inches, the 911 Turbo S has solid braking capabilities.

With traditional Porsche 911 lines and a soft wing which extends with a push of a button, the looks of a 911 Turbo S will please every Porsche enthusiast. As Pilgrim skillfully maneuvers the 911 Turbo S around the track, reaching high cornering speeds, you would have no clue it was the heaviest 911 ever built. The weight which compared to other vehicles isn’t significant and mostly due to all-wheel drive. The enhanced maneuverability from the all-wheel drive makes lapping the Porsche 911 Turbo S around NCM Motorsports Park an impressively fun and quick experience.

A price point around $190,700, coupled with speed and plush comforts of the interior, the 911 Turbo S is a perfect purchase for the individual looking for a car they can spin around on a track and then casually drive across town in. The multi-way adjustable electric seats add customized comfort to the driving experience. But let’s be honest, when you are opening up this car on a country road you aren’t thinking about the electric seat adjusters.

Raised around her family’s colorful imports and antique mechanic shop, and with a car museum as a classroom. Yes, really, she was homeschooled out of a car museum. She still has problems with fractions. Caitlin is most at home wandering alone in a car museum or popping a beer behind the desk of her father’s mechanic shop, Shook Enterprises.

With a constant flow of beloved antique and classic sports cars running through the family business, it’s no wonder the origin of her automobile passion.

In efforts of making Caitlin less of a troublemaking brat during her teenage years, her father found a 1976 Porsche 912e to absorb her time. She, with the expert supervision of Steve Shook and Sidney Arnold, began a total restoration. Engine overhaul, all mechanicals, EVERY DAMN THING.

After that, she would soon learn the mind-bending qualities of auto bodywork. Taking the 912e down to metal while branding herself with a heat gun multiple times. Plus, did you know airplane acid hurts like the dickens if you get it a piece of curled paint soaked in it stuck between your leg and your sock? It does. Once down to metal, it was clear the Porsche 912e had been applied Bondo by a Jackson Pollock admirer. Anyways, enough about the restoration.

Now she spends her time good spiritedly harassing mechanics at the family shop, drinking whatever beer is in the fridge, and creating informal YouTube videos on beloved cars to post on The Bad Blonde CARS + TRAVEL.

She hopes you like her work, and if you don’t, best you keep it to yourself.
