Porsche Club of America Hosts 58th Annual Concours d’Elegance in SoCal
About 100 classic, rare, and modern-day Porsches will be on display in Santa Monica on September. 15.
The Porsche Club of America, Los Angeles Region will be celebrating the 58th annual Concours d’Elegance this weekend. On September 15, about 100 Porsches will be rolling into the Santa Monica Museum of Flying. Members and non-members can celebrate the iconic marque in a very cool location; and see some amazing cars duke it out in competition.
This year’s theme is, appropriately, “LA Dreamin’,” giving flat-six enthusiasts an opportunity to not just see some truly amazing rides, but also celebrate Porsche’s important and striking place of the SoCal car culture. To that end, the PCA-LA is encouraging attending members share stories about how their Porsche is a pivotal part of in their life in Los Angeles.
“For enthusiasts, the Porsche brand has always been synonymous with passion and inspiration in a way no other competitor comes close,” says Mariana Small, president of the Porsche Club of America Los Angeles Region. “As part of the largest car club in the world, those dedicated to the brand are lovers of the vehicle as much behind the wheel as those simply admiring its curves, shapes and harmonious engine sounds – whether old or new, Porsches are distinctive and always promote sheer pleasure.”
Of course, many jaw-dropping Porsches will be in competition at the event. Members and non-members will be showing off their rides in hope of scoring “Best-prepared and Maintained Porsche,” along with award distinction within seven separate divisions including: Full Concours, Street, Übergang, Ganz Übergang, Unrestored, Wash & Shine, and Special Categories. Of course there will be plenty of Porsches simply there for the fun, and will be showcased in the Display Division.
Other highlights include a special display celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Porsche 911 GT3, with nearly two dozen GT3 models expected to be in attendance representing the 996, 997 and 991 generations. There will also be a technical presentation of the Porsche 992 by Tony Callas, technical director for PCA National and Owner/CEO of Callas Rennsport. And classic and vintage Porsches will undoubtedly be a big draw. The Concours d’Elegance will have some notable and iconic Porsches, including: a 1956 Porsche speedster, 1960 Porsche Cabriolet, 1963 B-T6 Coupe, 1965 Porsche 911 coupe, 1968 Porsche 911S Targa Sportomatic, and more.
