Panamera Sport Turismo Adds Luxury, Performance to Wagon Market

By -

The Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo is surprising in many ways. Just wait till you hear the price.

Porsche is apparently unafraid of expanding the Panamera line with the Panamera Sport Turismo, but as a vehicle, it’s a little bit of a curiosity. To really understand this car, Seyth Miersma takes us through some of the great benefits  and quirky details.

Starting with the usability, this wagon is a tiny little bit short on storage space, but when it comes to space for people, Miersma finds out; “up front I can luxuriate in acres of leg room, and the multi position seats would seem to accommodate perfect driving positions for all folks, big and small.” Just be cause it’s a wagon doesn’t mean rear seat room suffers either. The interior spec, even though it is the base model, has Porsche’s typically high quality feel with a new infotainment screen that’s “big, bright and very responsive” according to Miersma. But for Porsche’s we know that your money goes into the driving hardware. Two options on this car fall under that category: rear wheel steering and the 20 inch wheels.

As a car someone will buy to use, it’s comforting to know what it’s like in the real world. “It has this multi-mode suspension, which means that when you aren’t driving it really hard, you can get very good ride quality.” Even on bad roads and 20 inch tires, the Panamera Sport Turismo seems to find a great balance of Porsche handling and prestige ride quality.

But there’s two things to us that really stand out. Porsche’s 3.0 turbo V6 makes 330 hp and nearly the same for torque. While output could be compared to some other 3.0 turbo options out there, there’s some cars out there which exceed it. Still, it’s not a slow car and that power should keep anyone satisfied… especially when you shop for a more powerful engine. As it stands, this V6 model with the minimal options is $109,260.00. There’s no way to soften that blow.
