There are just a handful of cars that can be understood just by their name. You don’t need the make, you don’t need any information about the car. Just a name. One of those cars is the Miura.

When anyone invokes that name, thousands of images pop into an enthusiasts mind. Chief among them, one of the red and gold SV Miuras. It’s one of the automotive world’s most iconic images. It’s the world’s first real supercar, and it will go down as one of the most beautiful cars ever built.

Throughout its entire life, only 764 total Miuras were built, and only a handful were SVs. Out of that handful of cars, only five were built to the SVJ spec, which made for a hell of a difference.

The SVJs were practically racecars, and indeed they were built to show off what a Lamborghini racecar Miura would look like. Each car received 385 horsepower from a 4.0L V12 that absolutely sang when it was given full throttle. And each individual car is its own time capsule that lives to this day. Sadly, the company didn’t follow through and the cars were sold off.

Thankfully, those five cars are still working today, and now you have the chance to own a piece of truly wonderful automotive history.

Next week, RM Auctions is set to auction off one of these ultra rare Lamborghinis. Right now, the auction estimate is only $2-2.6 million. Frankly, that number will probably be a bit higher if the right bidders are in the room.
