Rennsport Reunion VI Is Here: What You Need to Know
Rennsport Reunion VI invades Laguna Seca with hundreds of amazing Porsche machines September 27-30.
Porsche fans have a plethora of incredible events at their disposal each and every year. But in spite of this heated competition, few compare to the amazing spectacle that is the Rennsport Reunion. This year, organizers expect tens of thousands of participants to descend upon WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca near Monterey, California on September 27-30. The festival takes place only every three to four years, and is hosted by Porsche Cars North America (PCNA).
Rennsport Reunion VI is extra special for the brand behind it, as Porsche marks 70 years of building sports cars. Thus, dozens of legendary Porsche drivers and hundreds of championship-winning and classic Porsche race cars will be in the spotlight this time around.
The idea for Rennsport went from conceptualization to reality back in 2001 as a simple way to pay homage to Porsche’s motorsports legacy. Since then, it’s quickly turned into the largest gathering of Porsche cars and fans in the world.
This year’s theme is “Marque of Champions,” which pays tribute to the legends of the brand. Championship-winning Porsche race cars, the engineers who designed them, and the men who drove them to victories around the world.
Approximately 50 legendary drivers, 500 historic and customer cars (including 350 cars in competition), and the full Porsche Factory Team will be in attendance. The original 356 “No. 1” Roadster joins them as the star of the show.
This year’s gathering will feature champion Porsche drivers including Hurley Haywood, Derek Bell, and Jacky Ickx. Plus, 13 current Porsche Factory drivers, including 919 Hybrid EVO driver Timo Bernhard. The event also highlights legendary Porsche engineers, including Norbert Signer and Hans Mezger, two of history’s most influential race car creators.
All of this, plus a 1,600-car PCA member corral. All in all, this year’s event looks primed to smash the 2015 Rennsport Reunion three-day attendance record of 60,000 plus. So we’ll see you out there!
