Super-rare, Super-cool Rides Headed to Petersen Museum Auction, Dec. 8

For the past five years, RM Sotheby’s has hosted its Southern California event in Santa Monica. Moving to the Petersen Automotive Museum in L.A. for 2018, the caliber of the event, dubbed “The Petersen Automotive Museum Auction,” is much more expanzie and will feature approximately 50-60 blue-chip automobiles, hand-selected by RM Sotheby’s global team of 30 car specialists.

Of course, a quick perusal of the attending lots showcases more than just the finest exotic cars. There is a surprising amount of automotive and automotive-inspired art, as well. At present, there are 141 lots in all up for grabs. Additionally, RM Sotheby’s claims that the Petersen Automotive Museum Auction will “provide a destination weekend for bidders from around the world.”

The Petersen is one of the world’s premier automotive museums, housing hundreds of rare and collectible cars, offering the perfect backdrop for this sale, focusing on some of the hobby’s most sought-after automobiles. Since its inception in 1994, the Petersen Automotive Museum has played host to exhibits that have captured the attention of the automotive world.

While only registered bidders, consignors and qualified media can attend the actual auction, this gathering of exotics is still worth the visit. For $30, the Petersen will holding a public preview of some of the chosen auction vehicles. That entry fee also allows you into the Petersen itself, which is a lovely place to walk around. Interested in bidding? A $200 bidder registration will get in you into the action, and allows for a guest as well. Said bidders and guests are also welcomed to a champagne brunch.
