Porsche 911 Safari models are making a major comeback thanks to ateliers worldwide. Like our avid readers here at 6SpeedOnline, we also have a soft corner for the rally-spec version of the iconic sports car. Recently Russell Built Fabrication’s 911 Safari Sportsman made its world debut. The Southern California outfit first made headlines in 2019 by unveiling its Baja spec Porsche 911 at the SEMA show in Las Vegas.

After entering production, Russell Built Fabrication’s Porsche 911 Safari models quickly developed a loyal fan following. The 911 Safari Sportsman is Russell Built Fabrication’s latest offering. The car starts its life as a 1964-era Porsche 911 before it receives a slew of modern upgrades. In addition to King shocks internal bypass coilovers, the company also integrates the rear subframe of the 911 Safari Sportsman with box plate steel trailing arms.

The sports car now rides on an updated suspension system rebuilt by Russell Built Fabrication. Furthermore, the outfit also stretches the track and wheelbase of the 911. As a result of this upgrade, the 911 Safari Sportsman now gets 10 inches of wheel travel at the rear. The front end also gets several upgrades, including a custom EXE-TC adjustable strut, a steel plate lower A-arm, and heavy-duty unit bearings and hubs.

New adjustable camber plates are also part of the Safari Sportsman package.

The Californian outfit’s package is designed to be compatible with the 964 factory powertrain. Moreover, customers can also request the tuner for a drivetrain upgrade. Russell Built Fabrication offers the 911 Safari Sportsman with both a 3.8-liter powerplant and a more capable 400 HP 4-liter motor.

Furthermore, customers can also opt for a transmission upgrade. The car flaunts a widebody kit which draws inspiration from the Turbo models. The tuner also offers Safari Sportsman with a carbon fiber low profile roof rack and a more conventional tube-style unit. Russell Built Fabrication is currently accepting orders for the Safari Sportsman. Prices of the off-road capable sports car start at $135000.
