Watch a stock Porsche 911 Turbo S do its best to keep up with a mega-quick tuned example and the Taycan Turbo GT.

For many years, the Porsche 911 Turbo S held the title as the very quickest-accelerating vehicle in the German company’s lineup, while the GT3 was the more track-focused machine. However, the debut of the all-electric Taycan years ago resulted in a changing of the proverbial guard in that aspect, as that model is blazingly quick when trotting from a standstill up to highway speeds – like most EVs, of course. Regardless, the folks at CarWow decide to conduct a three-way battle between a stock Porsche 911 Turbo S, a tuned version of the same car from ES Motor, and the mighty Taycan Turbo GT to see which one can reach the finish line first.

As most are well aware by now, the stock Porsche 911 Turbo S utilizes a twin turbocharged 3.8L flat-six to generate 640 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, which flows to all four wheels via the eight-speed PDK gearbox. It’s doing battle against an ES Motors tuned example with the same engine, albeit with a host of upgrades that results in a lofty output of 1,100 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque, while both cars weight the same at 3,615 pounds.

Both of these ICE machines do have their work cut out for them in the form of the Taycan Turbo GT, which uses two electric motors to generate a combined 1,019 horsepower and 989 pound-feet of torque, though the heavy EV tips the scales at 5,090 portly pounds. However, in the first race, the stock Porsche 911 Turbo S actually gets the jump before the other two catch and walk right past it, with the tuned Turbo S ultimately claiming the win.

Even after experiencing a shifting mishap in the second race, the tuned 911 still almost manages to chase down the Taycan GT, and repeated that same unfortunate feat in the third race. When the numbers were tallied, the Taycan GT wound up running a best quarter-mile time of 9.8 seconds, however, while the tuned 911 Turbo S recorded a 10.1-second pass, followed by the stock model at 10.4 seconds. However, the tuned 911 ran a 9.8 in the first race, so in this case at least, it was killed by consistency – which wasn’t the case in a subsequent roll race from 30mph, when it quite literally ran away with the victory, at least.
