A Subscription to 000 Magazine is the Ultimate Holiday Gift

If there’s a Porsche lover on your shopping list, we’ve found the perfect gift for them.
A lot has changed in the past few years when it comes to the automotive content we consume. Videos and blogs have largely supplanted print as the primary vessel for delivering automotive news, reviews, and opinions.
This change has resulted in a large shake-up in the industry. In the past month, at 20 beloved magazines have ceased publication, some after many decades. Included are some of our favorites, such as Autoweek, Automobile, Car Craft, and Super Street. They’ll stick around, but in an online-only format.

Gone are the days of super-bargain $10-for-24-issues subscription rates, subsidized by advertising money. The advertisers have more or less moved on. The current industry model has proven itself unsustainable.
To survive in the print world, you have to offer something that cannot be carried through an ethernet cable and delivered to a cold, glowing screen. You have to offer permanence. You have to offer art.

000 magazine — that’s pronounced “triple zero” — was started by a trio of passionate Porsche enthusiasts. The magazine has a focus on the brand’s history, and each quarterly issue looks and feels like a standalone coffee table book.
In a brief summary on the 000 website, editor Pete Stout says it best. “This is the magazine I’ve always wanted to build.” The operative word here is “build.” This magazine isn’t simply published and printed, it’s painstakingly crafted by people who truly care. In a way, it’s not unlike the early 356 coupes, built by hand in a sawmill in Gmünd, Austria.

The articles in 000 have real substance and style to them. The magazine isn’t something you read once and forget about. Each issue is something to treasure, something to keep, and something to reference in the future. Again, art and permanence.
Of course, that sort of artistry doesn’t come cheap. Four issues cost $250, and if you want them hard-bound and individually numbered, that will cost you $999. Trust us, it’s well worth it if you truly love Porsches old and new. Back issues are available on a limited basis, as well as 000 gear such as window decals and license plate frames.
