New Porsche 993 Book Makes the Perfect Stocking Stuffer
Berlin Motor Books celebrates 25th anniversary of last classic 911 with new book, Porsche 993: 25 Years – 1994-2019.
There’s only two weeks left until the presents are unwrapped, the ham is glazed, and LeBron James and Kawhi Leonard face off at the Staples Center for a crate of Sprite Cranberry sodas and New Balance sneakers. That also means you have just two weeks to find the right gift for the various petrolheads in your life. Lucky for you, we at 6 Speed Online are here to help you in your quest.
Just 25 years ago, Porsche was in dire straits. The 965 and 989 projects failed to hit the production line, and the world itself was in a recession. Yet, the Zuffenhausen team survived it all through the introduction of the last great, classic 911. Berlin Motor Books has that tale, titled Porsche 993: 25 Years – 1994-2019.
The 360-page, bilingual book (German and English) features interviews of the two key players behind the last air-cooled 911, project manager Bernd Kahnau, and designer Tony Hatter. For the first time, the duo tell their stories about the development of the 911 that would bring Zuffenhausen back to life, forging a path for the cars and SUVs to come.
In addition to the interviews, Porsche 993 includes lots of never-seen-before documentation and photos of the 993’s development from Porsche itself. And like any good book devoted to a specific car, this one offers advice and info on what to look for, and how much to spend, on a given 993, whose production ran from 1994 through 1998.
Need a companion to go with the book? Then this is the calendar you need. The Porsche 993: Air-Cooled Forever 2020 Calendar has 12 months’ worth of “The King of Porsche” for the Porsche fan in your life to gaze upon. You don’t want to sleep on this, though, for only 993 will be published.
The Porsche 993 book will set you back around $105. It, too, is a limited-edition affair, with only 1,998 to be published. The calendar is an additional $56. You can also request a specific number of the book, so your favorite Porsche fan can have the number they love the most, like 911, 956, or 356. It’s a gift they certainly won’t ever forget.
