Twin Turbo Lamborghini Huracán Holds Half-Mile Speed Record (Video)

This Underground Racing prepped Twin Turbo Lamborghini Huracán is the driver guided missile that owns the production car standing half-mile record.

This isn’t the first time an Underground Racing prepared car has held the street legal record. The tuning shop based in Charlotte, NC, already had the record with this car at a speed of 227.9 mph. This time they made 256.99 mph pass at a SHIFT S3CTOR event.

Record Holder: Twin Turbo Lamborghini Huracan.

If adding the best part of 30 mph isn’t fully depressing your “Wow!” button, then consider this: It still has a full interior. The air conditioning, stereo and navigation are still installed and working. If the owner chooses to drive it home after racing, he is cool, entertained, and not getting lost.

This is the cars second half mile event. The owner is only identified as Mohammad and his username Drag965.

Underground Racing has a reputation for putting twin turbos on high-end cars. They seem to prefer Lamborghini, offering a choice of turbocharged packages for the Huracán. 800 wheel horsepower will cost you $49,000. 1,000 horsepower on pump gas and 1,250 horses on race gas costs $99,000 with engine modification required. They also offer an X Version twin turbo package that will deliver 2,500+ horses to the wheels. You’ll have to call them for that price.

His obsession with cars started young and has left him stranded miles off-road in Land Rovers, being lost far from home in hot hatches, going sideways in rallycross cars, being propelled forward in supercars and, more sensibly, standing in fields staring at classic cars. His first job was as a mechanic and then trained as a driving instructor before going into media production.

The automotive itch never left though, and he realized writing about cars is his true calling. However, that doesn’t stop him from also hosting the Both Hand Drive podcast.
