1966 Porsche 912 Barn Find

For car enthusiasts, barn finds are the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Finding a hidden gem under a layer of dust is exciting, so what’s the first thing you do to follow that excitement? Cleaning.

In this episode of /DRIVE CLEAN, Larry Kosilla explains how detailing a barn find is like taking your clothes off at the doctor’s office. If you want the proctologist to know what needs fixing, you’ve got to drop trou. The same goes for a car: you’ve got to take off that wardrobe of feculence before you can see what kind of restoration work needs to be done.

The patient in this video is an Irish Green 1966 Porsche 912 that hadn’t been registered since 1990. Determining from the amount of feline hair on the Porsche’s finish, a cat may have swallowed a grenade in the garage where the car was stored for 23 years.

This is an in-depth 30-minute piece, which is a great way to spend some time with Porsche’s volume seller of the 1960s.
