Psst! Wanna Buy a Vintage Ferrari GTO Watch?
Have you always wanted a piece of automotive history? Do you fancy yourself a Ferrari connoisseur, but don’t have the cash for say a vintage Ferrari 250 GTO? Well, most mere mortals don’t have anywhere close to enough cash for one of those, but now you are in luck!
Back in 2005 a very wealthy owner of said Ferrari 250 GTO sent it out to be restored. During the restoration process a few panels had to be replaced due to corrosion and damage.
But since this isn’t a 10-year old Buick that has some rust, and this is a priceless 250 GTO, those damaged pieces weren’t just sent to the scrap yard.
No, they were bought, yes bought, by famed watch designer Christopher Ward. And guess what? He made a watch out of it; actually he’s making 100 watches out of the left over scrap.
The C70 3527 GT chronometer, yes it has that long of a name, would look perfectly at home in ones vintage Ferrari or at a local Cars and Coffee.
The 3527 part actually refers to the chassis number that the metal was taken from, I have no idea what the rest means though. Sadly, like the Ferrari it came from, so too is this watch out of reach from most people.
The cost, $3,000. Ouch. But that seems kind of like a bargain to know that you have part of a real Ferrari 250 GTO. Something you might not ever be able to say.
