Watch a McLaren P1 GTR Morph Into a Le Mans Prototype
The P1 is already one of the Top 5 most ludicrous production vehicles on the planet. Along with companies like Porsche, Ferrari, Koenigsegg, and Lamborghini, McLaren has been pushing the limits of what a car is capable of, particularly experimenting with a variety of technologies and finding the balance between performance and everyday drivability. But when it made the P1 GTR, the street was not exactly in mind. That’s a car made for the track.
But … we all know that’s not everything McLaren has left in the tank. So what if the Brits took it one step higher? Yasid Design took the question to heart and digitally designed a Le Mans Prototype version of the P1 using the GTR as a base. He even recorded the entire process and put it up on his YouTube channel so you could see how he did it.
If you don’t feel like watching the whole video, an extreme oversimplification is that he squashed the car down even lower, added a massive backbone and box-style rear wing, and made some of the scoops and intakes a bit more aggressive. Just watch, it’s really interesting:
