Racing Our Jetta on a Budget – a Little Good Fortune Is Always Welcome

We Did Our Homework!
So, knowing we had work to do, we did a little testing as planned between races and arrived at the next round better prepared and with a little spring in our steps. But that’s never a good thing!
The record books will show that Giordano enjoyed another great day in that GTi Challenge round, with another pole position, a race win and a lap record en route to overall victory in his Bullion IT Banhoek Chilli Oil Jetta CLI at Killarney. But truth be told, for once that one was a little luckier than it has traditionally been for the young man chasing the championship in his five grand Jetta.
“When they handed out racing good luck, I was obviously standing at the back of the queue,” said Giordano. “We’ve traditionally been unlucky, even so occasionally when we have won. “So, it was quite different to score a lucky win or once on Saturday!”

Day of Curve Balls
In a day of curve balls, Giordano scored the easiest pole position of his career. “Qualifying was cancelled because of a power failure in the tower. “But I found myself on pole thanks to my quickest lap in the last race! “That was handy because we knew we’d struggle on used rubber this weekend. “Also, for whatever reason, we seemed a touch down on power. “So not having to carry the penalty weight was a bonus.
“I made a good start to lead, but then the red flag came out because of an accident behind us, and we had to do it all over again in a short five lap sprint.
“The second start was not so good, and I dropped to third. I had to make another brave move on Jaco Lambert’s Golf 1 for second into Turn 4, by when Eden was too far gone. “Still, I pushed, but to no avail. “Then Eden slowed suddenly, and I passed him for an unexpected but most welcome win. Eden managed to scrape home second from Jaco and that kept our championship fight alive.
