Sung Kang Z Dream

The first episode of Z Dream — a five part docu-series about the creation of a custom 1973 Datsun 240Z — premiered today on SPEED and features actor Sung Kang from the Fast & Furious franchise.

In this cinematic video from the talented artists at eGarage, Sung and his two friends, Michael and Greg, share the story of how they came to know each other and their motivations for resto-modding a car that evokes feelings of nostalgia. With a few different cars in mind, they finally settled on a ’73 240Z, and luckily found one that was garaged for 15 years.

The popular Irvine-based tuning shop GReddy Performance found out about this project through the powers of social media, and jumped on-board immediately. The 240Z has a special place in the heart of GReddy President Kenji Sumino because it was the one that got away; this is a second chance for him to complete his dream project.

The real purpose of the 240Z, nicknamed “FuguZ,” is for it to be a shared experience. From the build to SEMA and beyond, it’s about creating memories with friends, old and new.

Keep an eye on SPEED’s Facebook page for future episodes of Z Dream, and follow the team as they prepare to debut the car at SEMA on November 3rd.

Z Dream is executive produced by Justin Ching (FOX Sports) and Brian Yang (408 Films).
