6% Discount on ordered '09 997S - good deal?
^^^^ Whatever dealer is selling for invoice(dont belive it on 09s) needs to have their dealer license removed. I mean how crappy of a dealership do you have to be to sell new PORSCHE product at that. Seems ridiculous and devalues the product. Those actions will really hurt resale and trade in values. No one really wins in the long run. Their are fair discounts to be had. Good for you if you can find someone to sell at invoice but that dealer is just out of their minds!

Yeah im not trying to sound negative or trying to bash anyone. If it were me I would want to save as much as I could too but when you see an hear things like this it just kills me. It's never been that way and all it hurts is the resale. Everyone still gets paid everyone still makes money. It's the loyal cusomters that get hurt the most : (

More details please. Base MSRP/invoice = ~10.25%,with options carrying about 15%.
i think you can get 6% discount, but it all depend on the supply ,model, how much option and what stated or area you live in.Out here in the LA or OC area it is kind of tough.
one other guy has got one at invoice + 600 in this thread and the fact these are new "high demand" PDK's tells you how bad this crash is.
cash is king and those in trouble are rushing to sell cars, boats, planes, houses..... even autogallery in calabasas is polite when they beg for an offer on the scuds on the floor, and that truly is a black swan, a rare event!!!!

please note my death's head logo has taken on a new meaning. Porsche's buying VW to try to stay in biz.

It really depends where you are calling. Springfield,MO is where I got my deal and it was around 8K off of 88K c2. But I called all over the country. Some dealers did not give up 1 thousand off MSRP (Houston) but others were eager to take 6k off before I even asked for their best price.
You are right...economy and flooring 100K cars costs a ton so even getting rid of them at invoice they still get hold back, another allocation to custom order and reduce expenses and make payroll.

Remember that a lot of dealerships carry multiple brands of cars and some of the other brands might be under serious pressure. Quick scan of autotrader reveals that you can buy a new 2009 full optioned Chevy Trailblazer for $36k-$38k. Also listed are used 2007 Trailblazers with less than 10k miles for ~$15k. That basically makes new 2009s almost impossible to move. So if you're sitting cash out of hand for 09 inventory that is nearly impossible to move, the best way to get cash is to try to move the highest priced moveable inventory. The 997.2 clearly falls under that category. I would be pushing for invoice, at least. I don't see this as having any effect whatsoever on resale value. If a dealer has two options - can't pay back bank loans b/c they're not selling enough cars and potentially face bankruptcy or try to turn some car inventory into cash to pay back bank loans, they will try the latter first...In fact, I would be targeting Porsche Dealerships that are part of a larger local dealership that sells brands that must be under incredible pressure - Ford, GM, Chevy, Mercury, Hummer...
Porsche sales are down -19% since Summer. I just talked to some of the Porsche executives here in Atlanta (where their NA HQ is located).
There is a dramatic decline in the sales of new cars, however, pre-owned cars are still doing relatively well.
Some dealerships are getting anxcious to do business...
