I ordered an Aqua Blue 09' with few options ( XM radio, power seats, ipod jack) bank in July and should have delivery this month. I negotiated 5% off MSRP. At the time there were no discounts to be had anywhere. Although the economy is much worse now than it was then and I could probably squeeze for more, I choose not to. That is the deal I made and I will honor it. I just wouldn't feel right about trying to renegotiate after the fact. My car will MSRP for 79k or so and I will end up paying about 75k.

I had originally been interested in an R8 but every one that I saw for sale was at a huge premium. I wonder if Audi dealers are changing their tune now. I have even seen 05' F430's in the 150k range and F360's in the 85k range. It's crazy out there and if you have cash to spend there are bargains to be had.

Have a little patience and the prices will drop like a rock. In early 2000, before the internet stock bust I was shopping for a C4 Cab. You basically could not find one. I literally checked every dealerin the US. The Turbo was just starting production so the 4 Wheel drive mechs were in short supply which had an effect on availability. In the country there were maybe 5-6 C4 cabs, all silver or black, which I did not want. And most allocations were sold out, my local dealer had sold out all their 2000 and 2001 allocations by april of 2000. I found a 2001 allocation at a dealer in NY and ordered a car. Then my local dealer took a 2000 C4 Cab in trade with only 4,000 miles, in the color I wanted. I paid full sticker price for a used car, but saved the fuel guzzler tax in August of 2000.

then the tech market crashed. within 2-3 months the dealers all had C4 Cabs sitting on the lot, therre were 2000 allocations available, and almost all the 2001 allocations were available. Pricing dropped 10%-15% by the end of the year and the lots were still full. With the crashing economy Porsche is going to have big trouble moving these cars. And if they don't build them they still have to pay their high priced labor, just as the US producers do. With the margins on these cars you will see 15%+ discounts by 1st quarter. With all do respect to the dealer from Orlando, he is a dealer and needs to sell cars at a profit. AThe train wreck in Germany was probably the best news Porsche has had in months, insurance will pay for all those cars.

I think all dealers were asking $50k+ over msrp on the R8 till recently. I do not think they got the $50K, the number I heard is around $30K. The wait list was long, I was quoted 2 yrs. There are a a lot of flippers on ebay that are also asking a premium. That was before. Two sold for msrp(brand new)a few wks ago, and I think there will be more at msrp from here out. Some on ebay are still asking for a premium, but I think that program is dead. I got an e-mail that one will take $2K over msrp. a few days ago. And I asked him why? The R8 production is low, and the number coming to the US is little. I like to think we should be able to get a decent deal off Porsche in the months ahead. I did not see a single 09 sold from one of the close-by dealer.

"Please do not put Porsche in the same category. Porsche is in no trouble at all. They are slow and so is everyone else but they are not in trouble. They manage the inventory very very well. Trust me. Good argument but your way off in your comparison. Trailblazers and 911s are different...Deals are to be had for sure But I still feel that a dealer that does invoice on these new cars is completely insane."

ZEMDOGG - You missed the point of my comment, which was to say that Porsches are sellable despite the environment and hence moveable; and since the Porsche Carrera sky isn't falling in comparison to Chevy Trailblazers, dealers should be incentivised to move this high priced inventory. To the dealer, getting invoice cost back is $100k in cash more than not selling a car, even if it's at zero margin.

I thought I read Porsche NA sales are down 50% for the last month? While not 'trouble' per se, long term its definately a wake up call and lets face it, this economic downturn is just gathering steam and its only going to get worse.

Maybe depends on what part of the country your in. No C2 allocations were available as recently as October. The dealership then struggled to find a November C4 build which I took. I hear C2S builds are plentiful.

all 3 dealers in the valley have two C4S coupe launch cars, plus cab. Not sure what the new allocation avail. list looks like. I think they all have 09 sitting on the lot.

There are still plenty of launch cars sitting around here too. I really liked a white over grey C2 with PDK but it didn't have Sport Chrono

I mean honestly, what is the use of PDK without SC?

Plus all the launch cars are basically the same give or take a few options.

I really like the look of the 4/4s, I think the red reflector strip works nicely. Dd you get a decent deal on it?

Yes, I got a great deal but they asked me not to post.

I do really like the looks of the C4 and am happy I was kinda forced into it. However, a C2 would have had many more toys. With the C4 I left off Bose, Bluetooth, XM and Vented seats to name a few items. Took a bit of the sting out of the price.

Not to post price? but this is the 997 forum... ; > I think the 4 is a good choice, I like the wider body with the red reflector. Did u do the change the wheels to 305/30? can’t speak for other, but I learn not t spend $ on sound as I listen to AM talk show. Not sure if vented seats is needed, we live in bay area.

No, I stuck to the 18" wheels. The tires are much cheaper with more choices. Plus I thought I could use them for track wheels if I ever pick up a set of aftermarket 19"ers. I listen to AM mostly also so Bose isn't a big loss. Bose in my 987 Boxster sucked anyway.

The options I went for were:
Nav, audio interface, heated seats and SC

Cheap items like heated steering wheel, crest in head rest, model designation arm rest and colored wheel crest were also included. I wanted a little something to personalize the car whick is silver over grey
