Lightbulb Music that heals - Remembering our friend

As I was driving back from tha hamptons yesterday, about a 2 + hour ride back to NYC, I got to thinking about the power of music, how it helps you in a time of saddness, and what an interesting thread this would be to see what song or lyrics helped anyone here in anyway over this past w/e dealing with our recent loss here.

The song that recently got to me the most thinking about Ben and his ordeal was by one of my favorite bands, U2. The song is called "KITE" and is off a recent album of thiers "All that you cant leave behind"
I have always felt Bono's lyrics are very profound and can be easily be taken on as your own.

Here is a sample of the lyrics.....

"Who's to say where the wind will take you
Who's to say what it is will break you
I don't know
Where the wind will blow

Who's to know when the time has come around
I don't want to see you cry
I know that this is not goodbye"

Darren, thanks for posting this...I was thinking the very same thing last night as I was driving home.

So many songs will bring out emotions now, and just one of the few that broke me up as I drove along was this.

Sting: Fragile
Original Album: Nothing Like The Sun

The version I was listening to last night was the accoustic version recorded on the "A Tribute to Heroes" album. A very touching thing. Buy it if you don't already own it.

The whole song was very powerful, but the part that made me cry was the chorus...
______________________________

On and on the rain will fall
Like tears from a star, like tears from a star
On and on the rain will say
How fragile we are how fragile we are
How fragile we are how fragile we are...

______________________________

I look forward to a time a little farther down the road, when the happier songs will remind me instead of the sad ones.

Dave

Vik has a spectacular aura aboutVik has a spectacular aura about
I was thinking about this as well and the song that helps me is:

Coldplay - "Don't Panic"

Bones, sinking like stones,
All that we fought for,
Homes, places we've grown,
All of us are done for.

And we live in a beautiful world,
Yeah we do, yeah we do,
We live in a beautiful world,

Bones, sinking like stones,
All that we fought for,
And homes, places we've grown,
All of us are done for.

And we live in a beautiful world,
Yeah we do, yeah we do,
We live in a beautiful world.

And we live in a beautiful world,
Yeah we do, yeah we do,
We live in a beautiful world.

Oh, all that I know,
There's nothing here to run from,
'Cause yeah, everybody here's got somebody to lean on.

DJ & Super-Duper:

I was thinking the same thing as well.

Friday night I was out late with my crew & girl, knew I had to wake up @ 4:30 to be in the car by 5:00 am the drive down south.

We got home about 2:30 am, my girl went to bed but yours truly could not sleep. Those of you who know me, know I dont drink or do drugs of any kind, I was just thinking about the tragedy.

So I burnt a disc of some fave Beatles tunes and listened to it all the way down (and back up)

I am not going to list the lyrics, you all know every song.

But it was hot, and it really makes you think, you know what I mean?

...........So thats the soundtrack to my 5:00 am pics of the drive last Saturday.

God Bless Your Life

I am working on finding a host...
I have contacted Shank in regards to hosting the song and am awaiting a reply. If anybody else has hosting to offer (that would allow for multiple downloads- i dont want to kill your bandwidth), please let me know! thank you all and safe driving.
