Another "Price my car" thread

Here's the ad I've had up, is the asking price fair? Too high? Too low?

1988 Porsche 911 Cabriolet

This is an IMMACULATE example of the air cooled Porsche era. It's a red 911 cabriolet, black leather interior (nearly perfect. Seats in incredible condition), with a 5-speed transmission. The car is in pristine condition, especially given its age. It's had a handful of maintenance in the past few years, and as such remains unbelievably reliable as well as a ton of fun to drive.

This is a Minnesota car, but it is stored in our heated garage all winter. It comes out on April fools day, and hibernates on Halloween. She lives under a Porsche cover all winter, and gets detailed weekly.

The car currently sits at ~90,000 miles and has had the following recent maintenance:

New top last week (The technician, when told that this was the original top responded by saying "I've never seen a top last this long, or look this good -this must be a garage queen.") The top was replaced as it had a minor tear from the top folding wrong.
New top end and clutch were put in two years ago. Less than 10,000 on each of these. Work done by Jeppesen Imports.
A few headlight relays here and there.

Other than that, virtually nothing has been done to the car - it starts right up every spring, and runs like a top all summer. The car is spoiled - runs on nothing but Shell 91 (No ethanol) and drinks only Mobile 1 Full synthetic.

Modifications:
17" C2 wheels - Yoko ES100 tires
White gauge faces. The stock black faces made the gauges nearly invisible at night. OEM parts.
Pioneer head unit and speakers. The CD function on this head unit doesn't work. Easily replaceable, and can be worked out in the deal.

Known issues:
The drivers side map pocket is coming apart. We've tried ordering a new one, but keep getting sent the wrong parts. This can be easily re secured, and I'll take care of it once I'm home from school.

I'll get more pictures once I'm home -

New price - $25,500

It would help to know the year, but the price sounds high being that the car has been modded.

Edited. Do the wheels, gauges and stereo really effect it that much? I'll throw the stock gauges back in....But the stereo and wheels are now gone.

Where would you price it at?

Those are 17" C2 replicas, not 18" Turbo wheels. (The original 16" fuchs are far more desireable than those on a 3.2)
$25k sounds about right.

They do, the fake Cups sell for as little as $250 a set, while the stock Fuchs are closer to $1K, or more if 7&8X16s, stereo not so much as the guages, being a G50 car helps too.

I agree with Luis, I think your price is a little high maybe $25-26k sounds right?? I don't think the gauges would have anything to do with the value of the car, it’s an easily reversible mod that anyone can do.

What’s wrong with your map pocket? Is it the plastic piece below the door handle that is cracked?

Good luck with your sale!

The whole map pocket is trying to come off the door. The screw right behind the door handle gave out, so it sags a bit. Attempts to resecure have been so far unsuccesful.

Thanks a lot for the advice - Price/Ad will reflect the changes.

Maybe your price wasn't off, I have been looking around in the Baltimore/DC/Philly area and see a lot of coupes and cabs in the $25-30k(asking) zone. I am not sure what you mean about the map pocket. Its help on by 7? screws, the handle is held on by 4 allen head screws (6mm). If you post a photo I can give you some ideas how to fix it.

I'll get some when I'm home. I apologize I don't know enough about the car (It's my dad's). I'm personally an Audi enthusiast, and am actually on my way back from picking up a Stage III B5 S4.

I joined 6 speed to get to know the car a little better, as I've always loved driving/working on it - yet this map pocket think is just driving me crazy.

I'll get some better pictures for you.
