Back when I was serving on Camp Pendleton USMC base (Oceanside, CA 92-95)...

There was a guy who had a 911.... I'm new to Porsche this year, but if I had to guess, it was a late 80's base Carrera with the "Classic Carrera" 5 spoke wheels....

I never met the guy, never talked to him, but the chrome finish on the wheels was amazing.... I'm not kidding, I really think they were "silver plated" as they had that hue/chroma of my grandmother's silver platter that was just ever so slightly "tarnished".... they had just a subtle "pink/blue" tint to them... still silver like chrome, but really looked like actual Ag metal.

The wheels looked like this, although no black paint... strictly all chrome/silver... the paint on the car was a metallic champagne colored beige. Looked fantastic.

SoCal has some unique auto shops.... just curious if this was really silver plated.... anybody heard of folks actually plating the wheels with precious metal?

Who knows, maybe they were nickel plated?

No, I have not seen/ heard of wheels made with precious metals.

But diamonds, yes.
Asanti makes a set of 34 inch wheels (part of their ASF 103 series) that have 26,000 diamonds and 1,200 rubies in them.
$2 million per set.

If you want to have the same wheels you saw its difficult but nickel plated wheels i have seen in eBay few days back.....just check with them if its still available or not....
