1990 911 spare

What is the smaller valve stem for on the spare wheel. There are two. The larger one accepts inflator, small one doesn't. Is it a pressure relief valve? I don't have a manual to look up.

i believe it allows for faster deflation once you are done with the spare and need to stow it back in the front trunk.
