What engine for a Six conversion

I was first thinking of a SC 3.0 liter but now I am think of getting a 87-89 Carrera 3.2L mostly because of the electric fuel injection and the DME instead of the C.I.S. the 3.0 liter has. But no V8 I really like the sound of a air cooled flat-6 in the morning. And I just wanted to have another post in the 914 section.

I'm painting her black, with factory GT flares, not silver with red scallops. If you stay 4 lug, I have a brand new pair of front rotors for a 71 (NLA from Germany, according to the Porsche dealers) one of the last sets out of Germany as I waited a long time and paid premium, then had the slotted, then sent them to be Cryo treated, then added 911 studs (still 4 lug, as I was going to use them on a stock class 71) I have all the reciepts. I also have a set of the bigger BMW front calipers (ok, I was going to cheat a bit, but the Koni front struts have raised spindles). Let me know if you have any interest and if I deside to part with them, you will be the first in line. My 6 has the Velios Carrera kit & 944 Turbo brake calipers.

Actually, I just put on new rotors about 6 months ago, but I will be changing to 83-89 911 5 lugs, 17" wheels 7.5" 225/45 front and 9.0" 255/40 rear, Brembo 993TT Big Reds 12.7" 322mm F/R, 915 tranny, 87 3.2L with a performance chip, some racing interior stuff. Can't wait until it is finished.

What 915 kit are you going to use?? I had the Patrick kit, but it was more trouble than it was worth and since a 901 is good for close to 300HP, I going back that route, but with a cool, LDS and custom racing shift linkage, not really any less $$$ by the time we are done, but will weigh less which =s HP
If I was going the 915 way again, I would go WEVO, but they didn't have their kit when I bought all of my 915 stuff, or when I sold it.

Well I am going to cut the fender in the middle and pull them out a little, but weld medal in to fill the space. I don't really like the bulgy look of the 916 fenders, I like it smooth but wider. Somethink like this.

SC flairs work the best. I did mine about 20 years ago. Built a very strong 2.7 with mechanical injection. Very fun and reliable car. I REALLY miss her...

Grantsfo will become famous soon enough
Built mine with a used 2.4 carbed 911 E engine that I bought on ebay for $2000. So far its been a great little engine. Not nearly as easy to start as a fuel injected engine and it coughs a sputters occasionally, but when those triple Webers sing its a sweet sound.
