Interesting

Racrbvd:

So your thinking of using the 6 speed in a 924S as well...
Let me know how that works out. If possible document the process. I have to admit I am still a little unclear as to what actually bolts to what.

is the Clutch 924s/944 or 968?

I know the 924S has a slightly different ratio 5 speed than the 944, but still don't know why. The interior is nice.

Porsche used a lower 5th gear on the 924S since it was lighter & had less drag than the 944, so with the same gears, it would have been faster. It is a bolt in, but you need the torque tube and the other 968 tranny bits. The tranny currently in my 924S was built & used in a race car I crewed for at the Rolex 24 back in 2000. It has 4 really short gears but 5th is very tall (the car we ran had over 400HP) great for autocrosses & highway cruising.

Still looking for a 6 speed tranny??
