there are a few out there

these cars are weird though when it comes to pricing - there is no real correlation between price and quality - you can find the odd gem for cheap, or you could pay a lot for a basket case

however, it seems that in the end, it does generally equate to a "price to get it in shape" - whether you pay for it upon purchase, or buy one that ends up needing work, ultimately you are looking at 25k for a good low mileage cab and about 17-19k for a good low mileage hatchback - knock off about 3k-5k for higher mileage, and another 3k-5k if the service isn't up to snuff with complete records

then park 2k a year for maintenance

prices in USD

if you aren't prepared to spend that, i'd get a 944 - you can get a lot more for your money - there are just way too many guys out there with buyer's remorse, thinking they were getting a great 968 for under 15k and ended up spending a ton on repair, complaining about it, and ultimately staining the market reputation of the car - it's a 13-16 year old car - they are going to need work - that's a reality - even a garage queen with 5k on it needs all new rubber everything, if those parts are original, as they are now over twice past their life span

don't get me wrong, i love my car - no regrets at all - but i was prepared to spend the money

the biggest thing is to shop for the one you want, don't settle, drive it, have it checked out, and then just break down and buy it

squid is an unknown quantity at this point
are you sure you want a tip? The autos of those days were relatively poor--slow and heavy--but the manuals were fantastic. I put 70k on my 968! Drove it from Quebec City to Miami to Los Angeles!

I found this posted, and another friend is thinking about selling his.

968 Coupe MINT!!! Florida
1994 968 Coupe. Silver/Black. It's a 10 inside and out. 87,000 miles. Only 6000 in the last 3 years. All Service complete. Very meticulous owner. 6speed and runs as new. Needs nothing and can be picked up and driven anywhere. Always garaged and covered. Picks coming but believe me they will not do this car justice. Needs to be seen. I wish I could add one more car to my group. FIRM price of only $16,000
Tom
info on my buddy Richy's car.

94 968, black, grey, 80,000
mo30 brakes and rear sway bar, ss brake lines, slotted rotors, extra pagid and oem brakes, double adj koni coilovers with camber plates, k & n cone filter, custom carbon fiber short shift lever, automotion chip, carbon fiber splitter (not installed), street wheels, track wheels, lexan windshield (+ extra windshield), longacre mirror, momo race seat, sparco sport passenger seat, 6 point harnesses, autopower roll cage, fire ext, b & b exhaust, 928 brake bias regulator (gives rear some extra grab), has had regular maintenance, belts and rollers, water pump, and head job. has never had clutch or tranny work (tranny is whining).

so i was thinking about $16,000 obo.
