Hi
May be in the market for a 1980's 928 (maybe 83 or 85)
What should I pay particular attention to aside from overall condition?
Would these cars make good daily drivers today?
Thanks for the help.

You will be told to go to rennlist 928 technical section.
You do NOT want anything before 1985, imo 85 or 86 Euro first then 86.5 or 85 US are your choices. 87 and up are great cars, but different nose and tail. Less aggressive looks. Very few euro's around and even fewer in great condition maybe 25 total that would be worth buying. So you are probably looking at 86/85 US.
If auto, have TBF checked on the PPI. Could be a daily driver if you buy one of the few that is completely up on all maintenance and YOU know the car inside and out and can fix them yourself. Buying one as your only transportation is laughable.
As time goes on getting tougher and tougher to find a creampuff. The good ones usually aren't for sale.

I just remembered, there was a black/black 1986 with only 6000 miles found and then put up for sale in the philadelphia area a couple years ago. They wanted 25-30K. Worth every penny. It was in showroom condition inside and out. Search rennlist for that car, it had multiple threads and may still be available.
If your budget is tight, don't buy a 928.

I completely agree with the above. If you are buying it because they are "the cheap Porsche", you should look elsewhere. These cars were close to 80 Thousand dollars new, and the price of maintenance and parts goes along with that.
928s are great cars, but too many people buy them because they are cheap, and then don't maintain them properly. If you can find one in excellent condition with a full service history, then jump on it. The number 1 cardinal rule of 928 buying is "Buy the absolute best one you can afford". Spending more on the initial buy in will potentially save you thousands of dollars and a mountain of headaches in the long run.
The #2 rule... Always get a PPI.
