In my experience, the 3.2 intake wasn't too bad as far as injector fitment- it just involves marking the area and then die grinding to make them fit. It wasn't a big deal. Now intercooler fit is another story. We had a hell of a time getting my B&B short neck to fit, but I believe that there are aftermarket solutions that work.

Stephen Kaspar at Imagine Auto has a kit that works with the stock "pancake" manifold. He's at imagineauto.com I think. He's very well known for his Porsche EFI work.

Hey there gents!

I'm relatively new to the PCAR scene. Can someone explain what the benefits are from upgrading from CIS to EFI? Also, I know that EFI is an acronym for Electronic Fuel Injection but what does CIS stand for?

Thanks and have a great day...

CIS stands for Continus Injection Sytem. It is basicly a very simple mechanical sytem with some electronic controls, developed by Porsche in onjunction with Bosch in the 70's.

It worked very well for turbocharged cars due to it's inherent design.
As emmisions standards became more stringent ,more electrical controls were needed and it became more complex. A short comming for turbos to be modified, is that at higher RPM and boost, it tends to lean out which is a big NO NO for Turbochrged engines which can easily selfdestruct .

Efi Allows for complete control for your engine and is custom tuned to your modifcations via its internal computoer.
Result is higher HP with safety.Less lag, smoother and much better response, cleaner and more fuel effiecient running, and a loss of lots of clutter in the engine compartment.
hope that helps.

Hey Elliot,

Thanks a bunch. I understand clearly. Is this a huge undertaking to accomplish? Also, what would a mod like this run in terms of dollars and cents?

Thanks again! Have a great evening or day or whatever time it is where your at.

Ciao,

TK

Cost of the conversion would depend on the degree of upgrade you do,what components you use,and who does the work.
Where in NY are you located?
You could drive my car and see what you think.
