You can snag 'em in the 20s all day long, maybe in the teens in non-running condition.

I had the chance to pick up a great looking one for $15k should have done it when I had the chance. A non running one would be fine, motor would come out right away anyway.

isn't all the fun in modifying the car the part where you do it to oyur car, and not somebody else?
when you guys say non running does that mean the motor needs to be rebuilt?

It might be fun, but it's also much more expensive. You can buy someone else's project for pennies on the dollar compared to what the first guy paid. Ask me how I know.

How do you know? past projects?
building my 71 bug, i know that its cheaper to get a built car than to build one, especially a VW, but not so sure about porches.

Buying an already modified car is always cheaper, for example you can find a 996TT with decent miles for about low to mid $60k's, and a GT700 kit from EVOMS is $25k-$30k'ish, so thats around $85k-$90k plus labor and other things, yet there are two GT700 cars in the for sale forum for like $70k'ish.
