Why is the 930 forum dead???
sorry for the lack of action here, guys! but, since i started the thread, we've had some great pictures and members here. i'd post some pics, but i don't have a 930. it's on the wish list. =)
I love 930s. My ex-wife didn't understand why I wanted to spend so much for an 89 930 when the 996 was newer etc. I ended up with a 02 996 and now a 01 TT. But I did jettison her.
Jitters' is being coy about his car. The engine was built by RUF and it is one fast SOB! We call it the Red Beast.

Hey JD,
Unfortunately, I don't know. I was tampering with the manually adjustable boost ****
just after I had a new turbo installed. Sort of one of those "Oh, what do we have here"
kind of deals. It only took one pass to realize that I had made a booboo...
I knew something was wrong; however, I just didn't know exactly what "wrong" was at that particular moment.
Several weeks later, I noticed that the engine was smoking from the oil filler tube (Blow-by). By now I sort of figured that there was some interal damage. Primarily broken oil ring or something.
Well, once I tore the engine appart, I realized that not only were there several oil rings broken, but most of the compressions rings either decentigrated or broke as well, damaging 2 of the pistons as well as the barrels.
Oh well, just on of those "Damn"...moments.
An expensive lesson nontheless...but a lesson learned.
FYI, talked to the guy who built the car and he stated that I should not run more than .8 bar using regular pump gas...unfortunately, didn't know that. He also told me that I could increase boost only if I run 108 octane fuel..."Now you tell me"...
Ciao,
Jitters

Just need an alignment and corner balance and 150 miles of no boost (for the new turbo seals) and I'll post a review.
Just pushing down on the front and back of the car I'd say it's going to be firm to quite firm
