Good motor repair shop in L.A., CA? Ruff idle problem

so my old mechanic in santa monica closed shop and retired. im looking for a new place. i rarely drive my 930 and last week when i took it out i noticed at a stop the car idles kind of ruff.

when i come to a stop the car idles fine for a few seconds, then the rpms start to dip up and down, ALMOST dying but does not shut off. any ideas?

thankss

Humm,

You don't tell us how often you drive it. My 930 sits waaaay too much. I just went through an intense period of adjusting a lot of the fuel system to make them all as 100% as possible. I finally make it so that it smogged just fine but it was a big PIA. I noticed since then that it still doesn't like to start nor run well when cold.

My brother, who is a P-car mx in SCal and has forgotten more than I will ever know, told me that my work was laudable but a waste of time if I wasn't putting it through more regular heat cycles. [eg: DRIVING IT!] So, I have been driving it a lot more regularly. I have been noticing that it is a lot happier than ever before and usually fires instantly and will idle etc. It never used to do this. It still isn't perfect but it is getting close.

If you haven't been driving it, I suggest you try driving it until it is fully warmed up at least 3x per week for a couple of weeks. It will change how it runs and may eliminate the issues.

If you have been using it regularly.. well, this may be interesting but has nothing to do with your issues! The only good P-car mechanic I know down there is my brother.. Biased? Of course, but I have spend tons of my money over the decades having him do engine conversions, upgrades, and rebuilds on my cars.. So, I may be biased but I have spent my money with him like anyone else would. If it turns out that you have the need and don't mind going to Orange County, feel free to contact me and I will be happy to connect you with him.
