Very nice! Almost bought an '86 Ruf vin slant a couple yrs ago, but couldn't find out all the background info on the car, so I backed off. I was told all the Ruf records were lost in a flood?
It's pretty tough to come up with a fair market val for these cars. The 930T's are going for $25-40k. So this Ruf is approx $20k over the highest priced 930T and that's not going to appreciate or even hold it's value, so you've really got to want that car to fork out the extra dough for it. Before there were so many guys tuning Porsches, it seemed like Ruf was the only game in town, now it's hard to easily say they are. The new guys are catching up, and I haven't seen Ruf cars hold their value (possibly as a result of competition, possibly a result of minimal marketing by Ruf, probably a combination of the two).
I almost bought a Proto 930TT last year, but the deal didn't stick.
Eventually I'll get a 930T, no doubt about it. I also want a 964T or 3.6T. All the old stuff is gorgeous.

If I'm not mistaken, the 993 is approx 105lbs heavier and the same hp, hitting 60 two tenths of a second slower than the 930t. Without a turbo, that's nothing to sneeze at. Of course I'm referring to a late 80's 930t for comparison. I wouldn't touch a 70's one--too many things to refurb and unrecoverable investment to deal with.
I like the 930's for looks mostly, and the fact that you can build up a turbo motor to be pretty monstrous without major conversions. Handling certainly wasn't great compared to the 993. Both very good cars, each with likeable attributes. Neither outhandles a current 911 (in stock form), so it mostly comes down to style, IMO. The old body styles are exciting to look at, simple as that. For me, it's the same as the early 60's and early 80's Ferrari, late 50's and early 60's Corvette, etc. The sports cars years ago were less practical from a business standpoint, but certainly left craftsmanship and design passion intact on the way to the showroom floor.
I'm starting to like the 997's more, (really like the Cayman quite a bit too) and the new GT3 will be a looker. But that old 930t, the 964t and the 993 are all equally my favorite 911 shapes ever. They aren't luxurious, sound great, feel alive in your hands, and look fast all the time.
