951 cooling fan relay

HI guys,
I have a 1986 951 (944 turbo). I've owned it for about 25 yrs. I'm trying to get a cooling fan relay for it. I've gotten 4 from fcpeuro with no success. Finally ordered one from the dealer. But when I got there, asked them to open it and you can see the wear marks on the male connectors. Just like the ones from fcpeuro. My original one has less marks. And now I'm very leary because fcp said they were probably from the manufacturer testing the relay. I might have accepted that idea if the relay had worked when I installed it in my car. But it didn't. And since most places I know have a strict no return policy on electrical parts, I really can't afford to spend $200-$400 and be stuck with a non working relay.
And in case you're wondering how I know my current relay isn't working? I am using the procedure in clarks garage. Jumpers etc. Although I have a copy of the factory manuals, I can't find any info on this particular relay or testing it. This is the rectangular relay that looks like 2 relays next to each other that sits by the windshield on the drivers side. I've also read you might be able to fix the original one but I can't see any way to take off the original metal cover on the relay itself without destroying it. Thanks
