Where to buy 964?
They have become collector's items due to how few were produced. They are all expensive now.
Excellence Magazine recently had a buyers guide for the 964's. One thing that stood out to me was that on the 4WD models, they have some very expensive speed and lateral motion sensors that tend to fail. $1K each. I think you can find the buyers guide on their website.
Agree on the 1991 getting the head gasket right...sorry I missed the request for a PM from about two years ago...still have mine...still enjoy driving it...love the sound that the air cooled engine makes....now at ~82K miles....

Funny, im in the market for another sports car and was fully intent on going with an e30 M3. I def want to expand my options now and see what 964 are avail.
Anyone else selling?
True, but the AWD system in these cars is far superior to the current cars. Compared to my 996TT, the AWD in the 964 is so much better. Porsche changed it due to the cost and complexity of the 964 system. I think that was a big mistake. I say that as I have had zero issues with mine and it is 21 years old. That's reliable in my book!
If you search on the Rennlist 964 forums, there are threads on there that discuss the C2 vs. C4.

Some of the threads go into maintenance and driving differences, but the consensus is that most of the C4 owners do not regret their purchase even though they were looking for a C2 in the first place! To be honest, I would not hesitate to purchase a C4 if the condition was top notch.
