964 A/C Upgrade from R12 to 134a?

964 A/C Upgrade from R12 to 134a?
Has anyone upgraded their 964 A/C to use the 134a refrigerant? Is it worth the upgrade or should I just keep looking for a place that can recharge my AC with R12? The unit is pushing out air just not cold. I am assuming it just needs a recharge. Some places are telling me its not legal etc. I don't know who to believe anymore.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
