Who is talking about 993's or 996's? So you are saying you dont think a C2 with $20k in suspension and brakes is faster than an RSA?

I was responding to your comment about blowing buy RSA's on the track. If you build a comparable car to an RSA, you're racing D stock. If you upgrade the brakes to the "big reds", you will be moved up to C stock (993's; 996's and MK1 GT3). Any mods beyond that puts you into a prepared class and you're not talking apples to apples.

So, I am saying that if you build a 964 that matches the RSA setup, the braking will be similiar (assuming both drivers of equal skill level). If you upgrade beyond the stock RSA, then yes, you will outbrake and outhandle but you will be racing in a different class.

The RSA debate is indeed an interesting one.

It does appear that a number of previous owners have re-purchased following an 'upgrade' to a newer P-car. Perhaps the prices asked reflect the value of these cars to the people that know what they're really like.... And I bet every one of them would like a 'real' RS.

And the debate will go on...

I have driven a bone stock cream-puff with low miles before on the street, albeit cautiously. Nice car, good throttle response compared to a standard C2, and the economics of owning/driving one do make a lot of sense. But, at the end of the day, for what it is, I still feel it is severly overrated, and will never be near as iconic as the original (which I have yet to drive.)

You are right however, classification makes tracking an RSA very appealing.

IMHO, If you're looking for a real fun 964 that can be had stateside, one of the very FEW Carrera Cup cars might be just the ticket.

Have there been any issues peculiar to RSAs that regular 964s didn't have? I like RSAs strictly because I like them - not for the track, just because. A mint, white, stock one would do me just fine.

I agree with ZAMIRZ - I personally see zero appeal in the RSA. They were "light" simply because they had no options, not because they had special, purpose built parts (like a CF hood).

A 993 with PSS9s is superior to a RSA in every way imaginable: straight line, corners, looks, and is cheaper to boot. Why would anyone purchase an RSA over a '95-'96 with RS/RS Clubsport aerokit?

Err... Yes.

I've had an RSA for 9 yrs, in that time i've bought, and sold, a 98 c2s and 95 993. I don't keep cars based on price, fashion or prestige - purely smiles per mile. The combination of noise, deep seats and manual steering is what makes the RSA a keeper.

BTW - Kevin of UltimateMotorWerks told me the RSA was the best 'around town' Pcar he's owned.... And he, if anyone, knows these cars.

Because at the end of the day, it's an RSA and that in and of itself is something special....
